Miscellaneous II

The Happy Home

This is a reproduction of a sheet of labels issued by the magazine “The Happy Home” during World War I.  The originals are highly collectable and Gerry thought them attractive enough to reproduce.  He produced only 6 sheets so they are rare even by Gerry King standards!

The stamps depict ladies carrying out occupations which had been in the male preserve until the war.  The reverse of each stamp has a little poem, undoubtedly patronising and sexist by today’s standards.  Apologies if you struggle to read these but the printing is very light blue.
