Wildlife – issue 1

This Issue is the first of a series of Wildlife Stamps created with the knowledge and agreement of the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust. Designed by the team at Jupeta Design, Middle Cornwall, they are printed and perferated by Jovan Djordjevic in Essex.

Measuring 45 x 35 mm, the four values are produced as a conjoined strip. The values in francs pays homage to the long historic association between the Isles and France. The 1f stamp shows a Great Black Backed Gull (Laru Marinus) the 2f stamp has a Kittiwake (Rissa Tridactyla). The 5f stamp shows a Common Tern (Sterna Hirundo) and the 10f stamp a Manx Shearwater (Puffinus Puffinus). All these birds spend some of the year on Samson.

These stamps and all associated products are available through the Fidgety Forest Post Office. The PO has in the past been at risk of closure due to cut backs, but being that it is hard to find for anyone not too familiar with the area, it has survived to serve the needs of local people.
