Port Winstanley Harbour Light

Issued in March 2010.

This lighthouse is a fixed light on the north wall of the harbour.  It was first erected in the 1690s and regularly patched up, partially rebuilt and generally added to over the years.  The light is visible for 11 nautical miles.

Hilary has described the colours as “terracotta, duck egg blue and stone on a parchment background. And lavender, peach and sepia on cream.”  You will notice that none of these colours are in the part of the spectrum visible to men.
